Fundamental Movement Skills Session

Emma, an educator at Short Street Preschool and Occasional Care Centre demonstrates how the service incorporates daily FMS teaching into their service routine.  Emma and the children begin with a group time discussion on the importance of warming up their bodies before engaging in physical activity. The group then sings along  to an action warm up song from the Munch & Move CD, before transitioning outside to play a game of ‘What’s The Time Mr Wolf?’. The activity ends with a cool down which includes the singing of another action song followed by a stretching activity.

Educators participate in the activities and correctly demonstrate the components of the FMS for the children to model.  The video also exhibits how intentional FMS teaching can be incorporated into both outdoor and indoor environments.
